To be eligible for the scholarship, a candidate must fulfil the following criteria:
- Be a student under anyone of the following categories
- Student in classes 6 to 12 in private, government or government aided schools
- Pursuing undergraduate, post-graduate, or Ph.D. courses (full-time or part-time) in colleges or universities recognized under AICTE/UGC/State/Central government rules
- Pursuing Diploma/ITI/Polytechnic courses after completing 10th or 12th Standard
- Must be facing a personal or family crisis that has occured during the past three years, due to which they are unable to continue bearing the cost of education and are at risk of dropping out of school/college/university
Benefits
Each individual scholar will receive the following benefits:
- For school students: INR 10,000, or annual school fee (whichever is lower)
- For college/university students: INR 25,000, or annual fee (whichever is lower)
- For Diploma/ITI/Polytechnic courses after 10th or 12th Standard: INR 25,000, or annual fee (whichever is lower)
PLEASE NOTE: The scholarship will be disbursed in the form of a Demand Draft (DD) made in favour of the school/college/university. In no case shall funds be disbursed in cash or directly to the student.

- Address proof (Aadhaar Card/Voter ID/Driving License)
- Current Year Admission Proof (Fee Receipt/Admission Letter/Institution ID Card/Bonafide Certificate)
- Bank details of the educational institution (Bank Passbook/Cancelled Cheque) (Information will also be captured in the application form)
- Income Proof (any of the three proofs given below)
- Income Proof issued by Gram Panchayat/Ward Counsellor/Sarpanch
- Income Proof issued by SDM/DM/CO/Tehsildar
- Affidavit
- Document/s as Proof of Crisis (Please refer to Selection Criteria for documents required in each case)

An applicant will be considered under the HDFC Bank Education Crisis Scholarship Support if he/she has suffered a personal or family crisis during the past 3 years under any one of the following categories:

Terms and Conditions
- The scholarship will be disbursed in the form of a Demand Draft (DD)
- All DDs shall be issued in favour of the school/college/university
- No requests shall be entertained for disbursing the funds in cash or directly to the student
- The shortlisted students will receive a confirmation on their registered numbers
- Selected students will receive intimation from their nearest HDFC Bank branch to collect their DD
- The scholarship cannot be transferred in case of a change in school/college/university
- To avail the scholarship for another year of study, the students need to submit a fresh application and requalify for ECSS
- The scholarship is granted only for 1 year, and can be availed for a maximum of 2 years
- NOTE: Only one application per family will be considered for the scholarship
